A Safety Alert has been published via Gas Safe regarding a a product modification to some models of BEKO gas cookers manufactured prior to 2009. During 2010, BEKO introduced a safety modification to the grill compartment on some of these of gas cookers manufactured before 2009. This appliances manufacturer’s instructions require that the grill door should be open at all times whilst the grill is in operation. However, if the door is closed by the user of the cooker, the combustion process can be affected due lack of air supply to the flames, causing levels of carbon monoxide (CO) to be produced due to a lack of oxygen supplied to the combustion process.. At the date of the issue of this Safety Alert, there remain a significant number of appliances that have not yet been recorded as being modified.
